TRAINING

It is not imperative that you have to be fit to start -  you are only expected to train at your own comfortable level in the initial stages as you work on fitness throughout your training with us - and during some of your spare time.

At the beginning of each lesson we always run a quick warm up session, to get the blood flowing, aid flexibility and generally prepare the body for training to avoid injury to cold joints and ligaments. This may consist of 3 minute round intervals of skipping, on the spot Muay Thai Knees, shadow boxing as well as the standard press ups, sittups, star jumps, crunches, stretching etc..

The primary martial arts involved in the classes

Bruce Lee's Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do - Which incorporates the original training methods from jeet kune do that bruce first taught as well as developing your own jkd journey.

Jun Fan Gung Fu   - The modified wing chun from bruce lee's developement.

Panantucan / Pananjakaman Eskrima - The hand and foot techniques from the filipino arts of Eskrima including knife work.

Kickboxing -Muay Thai Boxing - French Savate Kickboxing - Jun Fan Kickboxing - Western boxing.

Pentjak Silat - A more traditional art from Indonesia, including knife work, empty hand, takedowns, pressure points, specific target areas.

Kali - Empty hand techniques and the triangular footwork from the popular stick fighting filipino art.

Brazilian Juijitsu/ Dumog - Various locks, take downs and entry into grappling range.

Most lessons utilize the 4 ranges of combat : Kicking Punching Trapping & Grappling

With students partnering off training together throughout the classes. We have group work, triangle work (3's), various discussions, and also fitness and conditioning related classes as well.

The training generally consists of differing footwork , hand techniques, foot techniques, knee techniques, elbow techniques, blocking, evading attacks, weaponry, pressure points, target areas, ground work using mats, tactical combat, restraints, JKD psychology, JKD philosophy, JKD principles, and all the training scenarios we use are kept realistic as it would happen out on the street.

We can use different types of equipment during training depending on the content of each lesson - which can greatly differ from each session. Ground mats for take downs and ground work, or focus pads kick shields and Thai Pads for hand and foot techniques in excersises.

Also empty hand work of Filipino and Gung Fu skills including energy drills and sensitivity drills which can improve coordination, body feel and speed.

We occasionally use an array of different body armour to train realistically on - which all students favour as it is a fun way of training with your partner without getting hurt and really testing your skills out to gain confidence with your techniques and tools!

Only students that reach a satisfactory intermediate level are able to participate in full sparring or semi contact sparring.

Membership and insurance mandatory for sparring.

After approx 6 months training we encourage payment of a fee for £35 to cover MEMBERSHIP and INSURANCE which will be renewable annually.
